Fotomontaxe, 1960c.

A tripulación do Bonito estaba composta polo patrón: Ramón Trillo Lizancos o motorista Xoán Fernández Marcote e os mariñeiros: Manuel Rivera Calo, Xoán Lago Domínguz, Ramón Lago Domínguez, Francisco Santamaría Canosa, Xoán López Domínguez, Xoán Traba Trillo, Agustín Rivas Domíngues, Manuel López López e Fidel López Traba.

In January 1960, the Bonito ship sank to the black bottom near the Fisterra lighthouse and so the crew members were never heard from again.

At that moment, the sailing conditions of the fishing boats were very different from nowadays’ and so were the living conditions, particularly in winter. It was hard to lift the boats to have them repaired in winter and this made them sail the dangerous seas with boats in poor conditions, such as leaks filled with cement.

The Bonito’s shipwreck was one of the worst tragedies lived by the people of Fisterra. Very young men died and young women became widows, some of them pregnant and of course boys grew up without a father. The mourning was harsh for society and the widows would never come out of it, and at the same time, children were sent to orphanages, they would take their First Communion dressed in black.

The Bonito’s crew consisted of a master: Ramón Trillo Lizancos, the engineer Xoán Fernández Marcote and the sailors: Manuel Rivera Calo, Xoán Lago Domínguez , Ramón Lago Domínguez, Francisco Santamaría Canosa, Xoán Traba Trillo, Agustín Rivas Domíngues, Xoán López domínguez, Manuel López López and Fidel López Traba.

Pattern with a code of coloured points with which the wooden weft is shaped, each colour pointing out the bit’s calibre which has been used to drill the wood. Wooden weft.

Against the light verification of the image generated by the weft used as back lid of the box in which a framework with the black cloth is introduced.

The portraits are drawn on the black cloth when the sunlight penetrates the weft’s wholes.
